Some seriously under-rated punk albums.
Ever Revolving Never Evolving [VINYL]Ever Revolving Never Evolving [VINYL] by 30 Foot Fall
Definately one of the most under-rated punk albums of the '90s. Nofx style with meaningful lyrics and good guitar solos.
Crime Pays When Pigs Die [CASSETTE]Crime Pays When Pigs Die [CASSETTE] by Christ on a Crutch
Buy used from: £4.76
Pretty much what you'd expect from the band and album names. Good, fast, old fashioned hard-core. Not easy to find information on, but In On Your Joke is an awesome track and AAA covered it.
Group SexGroup Sex by Circle Jerks
Buy new: £10.79 / Used from: £8.99
Maybe not really under-rated, but a classic all the same and definately to be picked up if you haven't heard it. Great early California punk, and an influence for hundreds of bands to come.
Where No One Knows My NameWhere No One Knows My Name by Enemy You
Buy used from: £7.84
Not really a classic, but definately a good album. Reviews call it a cross between Bad Religion and Nofx, but it doesn't seem that similar to me. Pretty standard, slightly pop-punk, catchy.
Destroy What Destroys YouDestroy What Destroys You by Against All Authority
Buy used from: £9.90
Seriously one of the best punk bands out there at the moment. Think slightly Op Ivy, bit more raw and some seriously angry political feelings. A classic!
Hit for SixHit for Six by Consumed
Buy used from: £6.17
Always nice to hear a British band these days who aren't trying to sound American. A great CD which unfortunately never caught on in the States despite being on Fat. Great live. Swansea misses them.
Acoustic Roots Live and DirectAcoustic Roots Live and Direct by Slightly Stoopid
Buy new: £8.58 / Used from: £7.43
Drifting away from punk for a minute, this is great acoustic reggae. A must for any Sublime fan. Accept the silly 'White Boys Talking Like Jamaicans' thing, sit somewhere sunny and enjoy.
The Human Atom BombsThe Human Atom Bombs by Randy
Buy new: £8.79 / Used from: £16.06
Seriously catchy Swedish punk with a rock-and-roll feel to it. Not like The Hives or any other Swedish guff. Sits in my top 5, never gets far from the stereo. Do what you have to to listen to it.
Beat Is on the BratBeat Is on the Brat by Screeching Weasel
Buy used from: £3.98
The mighty Weasel covering an entire Ramones album. Don't expect anything to be changed except the tempo. Not an ideal introduction to SW but a must for a fan of either bands.
Coming OutComing Out by Smut Peddlers
Buy used from: £6.83
Hard to pick a best album, Failure, Tarball and Ism are also great. Nasty Californian punk about heroin, homophobia, choppers, skateboarding, and (for some reason) Germany.
RejectedRejected by Beefcake
Buy used from: £2.49
Originally took me about 2 years to track down this CD after hearing Proctologist on a Fearless sampler. Well worth it. Standard, silly California punk, but as good as it comes.
Beat OffBeat Off by Queers
Buy used from: £7.50
A must for any Screeching Weasel fan, this has a bit more bite to it than all the other Queers stuff I've heard. Childish pop-punk with snotty vocals and catchy, simple little tunes.
Cock RockCock Rock by Diesel Boy
Buy new: £14.19 / Used from: £6.50
The best album these guys ever put out. In my opinion the only decent one. But a classic. What you'd expect from Fat Wreck, but by no means mediocre. Titty Twister is a great drinking anthem.
Stay AsleepStay Asleep by Big Wig
Buy new: £12.69 / Used from: £4.42
'Melodic Hardcore' maybe? But late 90's style not todays emo screamo toss. Bigwig are an awesome punk band with catchy riffs and sometimes melodic, sometimes shouty vocals. Songs 1,2,3,8,9 are musts
Kona TownKona Town by Pepper
Buy used from: £15.00
Another reggae break. Pretty much listened to this all summer for 2 years. Again for the Sublime fan, and definately their best album. A classic to most who lay ears upon its island sunshine tones.
SomerySomery by Descendents
Buy new: £10.98 / Used from: £8.35
A best-of compiled from all their early albums. Nothing from Everything Sucks onward is included, but that's probably a good thing. This is the Descendents in their original, scene-setting glory.
No Gods, No ManagersNo Gods, No Managers by Choking Victim
Buy used from: £6.06
Mixing ska-punk with death-metal is a bizarre idea, but it works. Catchy and sometimes comical songs, combined with lyrics about smoking crack, satanism and killing policemen. Don't show your gran.
Open SeasonOpen Season by Stubborn All-Stars
Buy used from: £10.95
Back to the ska. This is a mainly instrumental album, with some seriously chilled and catchy ska tracks. With King Django as frontman it's bound to be good.
Scientific [CASSETTE]Scientific [CASSETTE] by Hepcat
Hmm, more ska, maybe I should rename the list? Most people have heard Hepcat on the Hell-cat samplers, and this is my favourite album from them. Every song makes you want to dance about grinning.
The Decline [VINYL]The Decline [VINYL] by NOFX
Buy used from: £4.84
Noteworthy because the Cd contains one track, 18 minutes long. Changes all the time, never gets boring, and I think a great achievement for the band. Wanted to put F*ck the Kids here but couldn't.
