![]() | Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell
Buy used from: £2.22 My favourite book this year - too good to even describe. Would have won more prizes but I suspect it was too long for all judges to get through

![]() | Moab is My Washpot by Stephen Fry
Buy new: £6.74 / Used from: £2.96 After watching Stephen Fry's debut as a director (Bright Young Things) I fancied this. I now consider him a national treasure. Very entertaining, even if you're not big on biographies

![]() | Shikasta Re: Colonised Planet 5 by Doris May Lessing
Buy new: £5.99 / Used from: £2.50 The first of the Canopus in Argos series. Not bog standard Scifi, Doris Lessing has the gift of showing you something about society and what its like to be human. Read all in the series!

![]() | My Cat Hates You by Jim Edgar
Buy used from: £0.01 This caused a friend and I to stand in WH Smiths and laugh our arses off. (Bought from amazon as was too embarrassed after all the laughing to ever go in Smiths again) - not twee like most cat books

![]() | Among the Bohemians: Experiments in Living 1900-1939 by Virginia Nicholson
Buy new: £6.99 / Used from: £5.00 Very interesting book - proved to me that the Bohemians changed more than anyone in the sixties (they invented free love first for a start).

![]() | The Fountain at the Centre of the World by Robert Newman
Buy new: £7.49 / Used from: £2.89 Shows that Rob Newman is now a proper writer (rather than a comedy book churner outer). VEry good and very touching in places in the matter of fact descriptions of life in South America.
