This Chadwick novel is my very favourite. it was hard to find a copy but I am glad I persevered as it is just a wonderfully told piece of fiction.

Amber St Clare would put Scarlett O'Hara to shame in the ruthlessness department. While not a particularly likeable character, I was truly absorbed in this novel! It is a must for any historical fan!!
