Buy used from: £4.44 The runour is that this game influenced the design of the 360. The story is wak, but the visceral thrills are unmatched in a FPS and years after launch it is still one of the top titles on Xbox Live.

Buy new: £32.36 / Used from: £5.32 Mass Effect is a genre-defining RPG with masses of beautiful, involving content, customisation, and storylines. A DLC pack was released but this games could easily become big franchise.

Buy new: £14.66 / Used from: £8.99 A game that was lucky to get made - underwater collectivist utopia, child abuse, moral choices, and so on. But there are few more involving games out there.

Buy used from: £2.99 The Xbox version of Pokemon? Maybe. But its the kid's game adults can play. It looks great, plays great, and is a nice change from the grind of noisy games that typify modern gaming.

 | Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent (Xbox 360)
Buy new: £42.94 / Used from: £3.89 Yeah, I know SC is on a lot of platforms, but for me, the series is most at home on the Xbox. One of the first games to deviate from the standard online gameplay modes too.

Buy new: £17.95 / Used from: £6.49 Really bad save system made this game frustrating and over-difficult, but it was the first game to show off the 360's capacity to generate dozens of onscreen NPC's.

Buy used from: £5.49 There are lots of racing games out there, but this one has the most style. Still huge online, its the franchise other games try to beat
