20 Feb. Sadly I had seen the TV version of this some years ago, so was deprived of the shock ending. Still enjoyed it though.

24 Feb. The first Poirot book, not as good as some of those that followed, but had me gripped (and clueless as usual!)

2 Mar. Have never read any Sherlock Holmes, and feel this may have been a bad place to start as I found it dull and did not care who the killer was or why he had killed.

4 Mar. My evening read (as way too heavy for the commute). Enjoyed it, but the notes system made it very bitty reading. Preferred the biography by Mary S. Lovell.

6 Mar. Bit of a change from the usual historical thriller, with religion taking a battering from God himself, and Marian visions aplenty. Enjoyed it, though it was slow-going at times.

12 Mar. Far more entertaining than I expected, these contemporaries of the Mitfords had amazing lives. And what a cast of characters! Kings, dictators, politicians all the 'top' people. Marvellous.

20 Mar. But sadly Ellroy's writing couldn't hold my interest in this 'reds under the beds' read. A shame, as I loved LA Confidential and Black Dahlia. But won't be put off Ellroy because of this one.

24 Mar. Very odd book, and totally different from Turning Angel, but I loved it. Obviously a very versitle writer. Impressive.

26 Mar. Better than Above Suspicion, liked the Black Dahlia link after enjoying Ellroy's novel so much. Another easy read, nothing too taxing.

28 Mar. My favourite Iles so far, although it's wonderfully ridiculous, it's a lot of fun and gloriously unpredictable.

31 Mar. Portrait of a woman screwed up by her childhood, but NOT a represtation of working mothers. Some of us are quite normal and not workaholics at all!

2 Apr. Another powerful work, somewhat overwritten, but containing some dark material. And a horrific climax.

10 Apr. Couldn't get into this the first time I tried it, but I can't imagine why as this is a wonderful book staddling several genres with ease. Highly recommended.
