The most beautiful album my ears have ever had the pleasure to be graced by. The harmonies, two-song dynamic and immersive lyrical style makes for compelling listening. 10/10

VISITERVISITER by The Dodos

Unfortunately overlooked, this album is very original and contains some amazing songs. Proof that all you really need to make great music is the best drummer and acoustic guitarist alive. 8/10

Weird and wounderful songs from California's treasured indie folk nasal based hip hop songster 8/10
Fantasy Black ChannelFantasy Black Channel by Late of the Pier
Buy new: £7.98 / Used from: £6.00
This album is like a big psychedelic vortex of electronic insanity, very entertaining and original stuff (just don't mention the Klaxons to them) 8/10
AntidotesAntidotes by Foals
Buy new: £8.28 / Used from: £2.23
This almost feels like Foals’ second album. The choice to discard their most popular singles and instead create a more ambient and collective sound is an admirable one. 8/10
For Emma Forever AgoFor Emma Forever Ago by Bon Iver

One man, one room, plus a whole lot of feeling. 8/10
Vampire WeekendVampire Weekend by Vampire Weekend

The most insanely happy album of 2008. Vampire Weekend always manage to make every song a great tribute to life 8/10
Alas I Cannot SwimAlas I Cannot Swim by Laura Marling
Buy new: £8.88 / Used from: £5.59
Laura Marling is one of the most genuinely charming solo artists to come out the Indie scene in a long time . Her debut is a soothing listen and contains some great variety. 8/10
The Age of the UnderstatementThe Age of the Understatement by The Last Shadow Puppets
Buy new: £8.98 / Used from: £1.77
Proof that shameless bandwagoning can be put to good use in the right hands – i.e. James Ford and Alex Turner. 7/10
IntimacyIntimacy by Bloc Party
Buy used from: £2.17
This album is far from perfect, though thankfully it does contain more hits than misses. 7/10
Little DeathLittle Death by Pete & the Pirates
Buy new: £8.98 / Used from: £7.96
No-nonsense Brit guitar rock, as simple as it is gratifying. 7/10
Workout HolidayWorkout Holiday by White Denim
Buy used from: £4.99
Every track on this album is wild, weird and oddly compelling, you won't have heard anything quite as unapologetically untamed as this. 7/10
Oracular SpectacularOracular Spectacular by MGMT
Buy new: £4.98 / Used from: £3.38
This band manage to pull off the commendable feat of making 80's pop influences not just a gimmick in mainstream music. 7/10
Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaustMeð suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust by Sigur Ros
Buy new: £6.98 / Used from: £2.96
A much more controlled sound this time around, shame they aren't pushing the envelope as much as they used to though. Still, every established band needs to make a "safe" album. 7/10
Twenty OneTwenty One by Mystery Jets
Buy new: £8.88 / Used from: £4.00
There's no harm in indulging in a good bit of no-nonsense indie pop every now and again. 7/10
Friendly FiresFriendly Fires by Friendly Fires
Buy new: £4.98 / Used from: £4.89
There's no harm in a bit of electro-pop either. 7/10
Midnight BoomMidnight Boom by The Kills
Buy new: £6.48 / Used from: £5.80
Short and sweet,. This band know what they are and aren't capable of, and with this knowledge they produce some very satisfying music. 7/10
This Is Not the WorldThis Is Not the World by The Futureheads
Buy new: £5.98 / Used from: £2.69
Hrmmm, they still seem to be running on a half-full tank. My advice is get their debut 7/10
Made in the DarkMade in the Dark by Hot Chip
Buy new: £5.58 / Used from: £3.99
Another album that hides in the shadows of the artists former glories, though there's still some magic here, you're just going to have to share it round this time. 7/10
Box of SecretsBox of Secrets by Blood Red Shoes
Buy new: £4.98 / Used from: £2.99
A bit flawed, a bit samey, though it can't be denied that this duo have a good sound, just a shame not all of their potential has been realised. 7/10
AccelerateAccelerate by R.E.M.
Buy new: £4.98 / Used from: £0.63
REM finally decide to take a break from their slightly pretentious, slightly self deprecating pop ballads and instead brought us an old school rock album. Forgettable but refreshing all at once 7/10
NounsNouns by No Age
Buy new: £9.98 / Used from: £5.49
Most bands try and be lo-fi by playing very well, then adding all the distortiona and fuzz when mixing, No Age do things the old way and bring out the grunge for real
