Magic tricks, romance, mystery and adventure. aaah carter you devil! you are a great book. Superb debut novel by Glen david Gold.

I can't remember the last time a book made me smile and laugh out loud as much as this gem. Funny, yet achingly sad book about loss and the complexity and absurdness of life, family and relationships.

Just take everything i have said about carter beats the devil, apply it to this book, and swap magicianship for the circus and you get another quirky and hugely readable book.

Simply beautiful writing by khaled Hosseini. His other book "A thousand splendid suns" is another stunning book, but everybody knows this by now so im not saying anything new!

Okay then here it is. Markus Zusak is rapidly becoming one of my favourite authors. Follow Liesel through the hardships of nazi germany as narrated by death. Yes i did say death. Just read and enjoy.

Another of my favourite authors. A great multilayered book and one of the few to actually get a near flawless film translation as well. There is no lake in camp green lake.
