This moved Eric on from psychedelia. It's deep, moody blues but without all that reliance on wailing guitars. This is sax, harmonica & piano - whiskey soaked, latenight New Orleans Black blues.

Some really evocative stuff here - sensitive and well observed and brilliantly produced.

I toyed with should I or shouldn't I put this on my list so I gave it a play. It deserves to be here. Not many tracks and Moonchild is too long but I couldn't leave it off. Unique and unforgetable.

The ultimate Grunge album - forget Nivana

Okay, so all of their subsequent albums have sounded much the same, but this first one sounded really fresh when it came out and still has most of their best tracks.

More refugees from Woodstock. Raw stuff with that 60s politics, beautifully dated. 1, 2, 3 what are we fighting four? More in the Jefferson\Janis groove but with more humour.

Now I know the Magic Captain is both wierd & strange in spades but that's no bad thing for me. Wierd & strange can be good - as demonstrated here on his first, most original album. Truly far-out !

This is a recording from the birth of psychecelic rock. Fresh, raw, naive, urgent & exxcitng. Rushed out to capture the Big Bro and Janis experience. More of a pearl than her later album so named.

Though Sabbath and particularly Ozzy got to believe their own hype this was a great album from a band from my home town. Hard to believe it's 40 years since it was recorded but then, s'pose not.
