Random instrumental attacks keep cutting the grooves short thus keeping things interesting. Holds the attention better than most jazz. Not background Muzak.

Heavy rock in the form of an instrumental jazz album. The virtuoso playing is quite in your face so it entertains a bit more than most jazz. Has several moments of greatness.

Vietnam helicopter pilot tells all. Very concise, to the point & easy to digest. Very readable and engaging. Gave to retired military person and he also thought it was great.

Comedy horror about human eating alien zombies. Large scale amateur film with home made OTT gloopy visceral gore effects. Silly sense of humour. Director went on to make Lord of the Rings.

Weird wordy movie with stiff boring camera work. Story simple but obscure due to the way it's told. Film entertains from time to time. Not good but interesting.

Clerks is more acclaimed but this is more fun. Foul language, ludicrous B movie storyline & many silly scenes. It's as funny as any film I've seen.

Very clever & funny 20min sitcom, which isn't obvious from the look of it. Rich family used to the easy life have their money seized by the law & have to rely on the only sane, rational family member.

Lavish looking indie film with an ice cold heart. Cynically manipulative girl destroys everyone in pursuit of what she wants. Loses its way towards the end but well worth seeing.

If not funny then entertainingly amusing mainstream comedy. Snobs invite idiots to a dinner party so they can laugh at them. I'm no fan of French "comedy" but this is good.

Charts several painfully tangled romances during the grunge era in Seattle. Like an amusing but less funny High Fidelity. Quite touching in its own way.

Stacks of new interviews with pretty much everyone who survived CBGB (epicentre of American punk) as they look back. Interesting book even if you hate punk like I did when I read it.

Funny book about the relationship between drugs & the music that goes with it. Lacks a bit of detail in places but makes up for it by being a pacy easy read.
