A. The greatest headbanging riffing ever. All the tracks follow the same format, riff, then bass, then drums! Tremendously exciting.

C. Tough call here to leave out Capt. Beefheart but this just gets the edge for the awesome and relentless rhythms

E. Ok the E's might not be the strongest category but this collection is the most interesting parts of very early ELO when they were far from the polished product of the late 70s that most of us know

G. Many fans prefer their live albums where their extended musings were given free rein. This album captures them at their studio best, especially Unbroken Chain.

I. Again something truly original. For the first few plays it sounds disconcertingly "out of tune" but then it clicks, especially the 13 minute masterpeice "Cellular Song".

K. Many profer In the Court or Red as the best KC (original era). I'm very fond of the more gentle jazzy noodlings present here. Beautiful music in a class of its own.

M. Great bears growl of a voice, slow and easy, but with interesting rhythms. A great companion album to Solid Air but different and containing Small Hours - one of Martyn's greatest songs.

O. This is the only Orb album you need. When it came out it was a breath of fresh air. Fantastic late night chillout hypnotic stoned vibes. They should have left it at that.

Q. Funky and retro. Check out some of the excellent Tru Thoughts compilations

S. Space Raiders, Scorpions, Steely Dan, Santana, St Germain...and this, beautiful songs, wonderful production. This album made a huge impression on me on first hearing.

U. Ok, Bueno Vista Social Club is good, but this is the real monty! Get Vol 2 too.

W. Waits peak between his slightly more syrupy early stuff and the latter industrial clanking stuff.

Z. On this Zappa does less of the silly stuff and plays some great rock jazz guitar.
