Ah,the Dropkick Murphys,1st and best release of their much copied (never bettered) Irish punk,from the abrasive crash of guitar to the mellow and heartfelt tin whistle/bagpipes nothing disappoints.

Took me a while to fully appreciate just how good this cd actually is,i heard "Dear Lover" and "I Was Wrong" and adored them,it wasn't til i gave it a few more spins i realised how good ALL of it was.

Switzerlands finest export since chocolate-wait scratch that,they are so,so much better. All their cd's are great but this just edges it,great use of quirky lyrics and sumptious upright bass.

Another band who've got a shed load of wonderful cd's to their name,a gritty (often tagged "streetpunk" band) they are capable of writing some of the best quality punk in recent years-most found here.

Again,hard to pick a favourite but slipping past the winning post is "Good Mourning",sinister,dark,heartfelt and compelling,Matt Skiba's unique vocals make this so much better than so,so many others.

Pop-punk brilliance from (in my opinion) the best. Combining frenzied guitarwork on songs like "I Didn't Puke" to the Beach Boys surf-stylings on "Don't Mess It Up." A band TRULY crafted from gold.

Featuring some of the funniest lyrics in todays scene this boasts not only great comic timing but also a highly innovative use of change of direction evident on "Power Up" and "High Balls." Great live

A ferocious piano intro kicks off the title track,followed by the slick "For Lovers Only",from then on every other song reminds you just how much the world needs bands like this. Sadly missed.

Although the most recent release on my list it's become one of the most important, An unbelievably catchy "Radio" starts things off,every song has real substance and is top quality. A gem of a cd.

Often lumped in with the "Irish punk" crowd Flogging Molly are much more important than being tied down to a stereotype,listen to "Black Friday Rule" and you won't fail to be blown away. Infectious.

A touch of political edginess is thrown into the mix on a couple of tracks but overall the same tried and trusted approach wins through,more punk than it's predecessor,full of top quality anthems.

Can't have a favourite punk list without having Screeching Weasel on it,simple fact. Lots of Weasel favourites on here "Count To Three","Dummy Up" and album closer "Burn It Down" are pure brilliance.
