Album Description
Whitmore’s, fronted by ex-Uncle Brian mainstays Robb on vocals and guitar, and bassist Glenn, debut "Smoke The Roach" contains the very popular live track "Alison" (one of P-rock tv Top Ten voted videos for over 4 months) which is included on this CD as a video enhanced track and "On The Ceiling" (the P-rock tv theme) which is also to be the bands next video, to heady Ska-Reggae tracks like "Listed" and "Drop The Bomb" in the mould of Sublime, right thru to pop Ska-Punk tracks and live favourites like "Tell You Twice" and "29 Times". The bands often brash, dark and angry lyrics give Whitmore a whole different twist...more than highlighted on the haunting last track "Closing Doors". Over 200 gigs in 12 months seeing the band support Spunge, King Prawn, The Toasters and Reel Big Fish on major UK tours and co-headlining the 39 date "Golfing On The Moon" UK Tour with Golf Records 4Ft Fingers has established WHITMORE as one of the country's hardest working bands and the rising stars of the UK Ska-Punk scene.

WHITMORE - SMOKE THE ROACH
This is the debut album for the Wiltshire ska/punk trio, after seeing them numerous times before I was used to the expletive and explosive shows of Robb, Glenn (both ex-Uncle Brian) and Jay. For this album I think the band has approached the album with some though, in some of the songs they have uncharacteristically laid off a bit, there not as raw and rough as there live shows, sound a lot cleaner (Robb has a lot tamer voice in this full length) and have creatively added other instruments which the would never play in a show, e.g. organs and police siren in * (star thing) and synthesiser noises in 'drop the bomb' plus having percussion instruments in many of the songs.
Stand out songs in this album are bouncy ska/punk tracks * (star thing) and tell you twice, and the awesome dub 'drop the bomb' and 'I am strong ', plus 'on the ceiling' was used for an interlude on a punk-rock T.V. station. There properly playing a venue near you now so go see them live.
good album - check it out.
Whitmore Rock!
If your searching through Amazon looking for a band which combines ska/punk with some hardcore then I think that you have just found them! Whitmore couldn't get any better if they tried! Smoke the Roach is a really well blended album of mostly punk with stints of ska and some screamo action! Recommended for anybody who likes bands such as Good Charlotte, Not Katies and Spankboy to name but a few! BUY NOW!
