Ignore The Rating - These ROCK
I never write reviews, but felt an obligation as these fine headphones seem to only have an overall rating of 2.5 stars - crazy!. Firstly, i'm an audio technician, so know my stuff. i won't go into detail, but they sound good, and are very well balanced (plus they get better with time!). lets face it, these are going to be used predominantly with mp3's/portable players... i challenge anyone to justify better quality with low bitrate music! on that note, the build quality is about as good as it gets - these will survive being dragged around with your ipod (even wound round it). They cost 50% more than your bog standard headphones, but produce 400% of the quality, and will physically last! On top of that, Shure has an excellent customer service if you do run into problems, which is unlikely. i could go on all day, but i can't be gassed.
In a nutshell, the Apple store sells these for £69.99 and they're worth it at that price.
Major improvement
I bought a pair of Shure E2C headphones some months ago and unfortunately the cable broke. Something very unlikely, given the build and material quality. I phoned Shure distribution and they promptly replaced my headphones for the new SE110 (by the way, congratulations for the service!)
These new headphones are a major improvement: the sound is richer and they have better bass response, which was a general complain. The extension cable is something that works well and the sleeves, especially the soft ones, are very impressive. I tried these headphones in the underground, airplanes and other noisy environments and never needed to get the volume above 3/4. When compared to my B&O a8, the treble is not as bright and the bass is not as deep, but for outdoor use I just take these headphones.
good isolation and sound when properly fitted
Because I fitted them incorrectly, initial impression was that isolation was good and sound was aweful. When fitted properly, i.e. according to user guide instructions, the sound was as good as expected based on hi-fi magazine reviews. Short fixed lead with included extension is nice idea. Spare foam ear fittings and case are included. Note that the "triple flange" ear fitting are not included.
