Top notch controller
Before i start i have only used this with the latest version Virtual DJ Pro but am reliably informed that it works just as well with Traktor if you play about a bit.
Out of the box this is an awsome looking piece of kit and to use its even better.
All the controls are solid and feel like they're built to last no matter how rough you are with them, also the adjustable tension on the jog wheels is such a nice change from the horrible ones on the Hercules Mk II's that would spin for hours and get nudged very easily.
The actual controller is quite big but thats the last thing that would bother me really because its well laid out and none of the buttons or knobs are cramped.
My one or two gripes aboutt he controller are that out of the box the drivers are hopeless is may as well not work but once you get the latest drivers from hercules and get the RMX's firmware updated its works flawlessly and reliably, I've done several 2 hour sets and its never faltered once yet.
This brings me onto my next small concern which could just be my laptop, there is alot of noise from the USB bus coming out over any of the soundcard outputs except the headphones, i have as yet put this down to the probably cheap and not properly shielded cable Hercules give you or even my aging laptop but it is still something i have run into. This also effects the two line inputs the RMX has so i am inclinded to say that it is a poor cable but i haven't got a better one to try it with yet.
All in all i would say that the RMX is worth the money any day of the week and if you're looking to come up from some of Hercules' lesser products or want a more compact solution that you can still use vinyls for then this is the place to be!
Hercules DJ Console RMX - review
I am very happy with this product, it is solidly built with quite a fluid crossfader. Admittedly i think the channel faders have a bit too much resistance and the cue and play/pause buttons are not that responsive, having said all that for its price i think that its a very well built piece of kit.
The Hercules RMX is two players and mixer all in one. Also, with custom mapping you can make the three band EQ work as an effects unit.
You get two channels of RCA outputs and two digital outs (all outputs unbalanced) you also have two sets of inputs for players and/or turntable, both interchangeable at the flick of a switch.
The jog wheels are small but quite responsive, you may find that your software will have a bit of lag but i think that would be of a issue with your computer than the DJ console. pound for pound, you definitely get your moneys worth so if you cant afford to splash out £3000 on two CDJ2000's and £1500 on a DJM800 then i think you will be more than happy with this.
Happy Mixing ;)
