![]() | Sony PLAYSTATION 3 Console (80 GB Model)
Buy new: £314.75 / Used from: £190.00 I have one of the original models with extra ports and backwards compatibility which is worthwhile. It's a great multimedia system but overall I think the 360 is a better games console.
![]() | Sony Blu-Ray Disc Remote Control (PS3)
Buy new: £14.99 / Used from: £9.97 Very useful if you watch a lot of films through your PS3. I've done a list of my Blu-Ray collection as well.
![]() | HDMI Cable (PS3)
Buy new: £0.90 If you have a HDTV it's worth getting an HDMI cable for better picture quality. I don't own this specific one - I'm just using it as an example.
![]() | Resistance: Fall of Man - Platinum (PS3)
Buy new: £13.79 / Used from: £7.00 I honestly don't get why this game is so popular. The gameplay, level design, enemy AI, graphics and even the multiplayer just didn't do it for me at all.
![]() | Motorstorm - Platinum (PS3)
Buy new: £12.95 / Used from: £8.40 Like Resistance, I think this game was boosted purely on launch-game hype. It's pretty fun but lacks variation.
![]() | Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (PS3)
Buy new: £22.99 / Used from: £10.95 Great game but as it's basically a glorified demo it may not last very long for many people. As always with GT, the gameplay and graphics are both realistic and very detailed.
![]() | Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (PS3)
Buy used from: £14.97 Easily GOTY 2008 in my opinion. MGS series fans should love the conclusion to the story, but the excellent stealth-action gameplay should suit anyone. Plus the graphics and sound are awesome.
![]() | Pure (PS3)
Buy new: £8.94 / Used from: £8.40 A surprisingly fun arcade racer, a bit of a cross between Burnout and SSX. Quad bike customisation and decent tracks help give the game more variation than Motorstorm.
![]() | LittleBigPlanet (PS3)
Buy new: £17.59 / Used from: £13.50 Impossibly cute platformer. If you get into the whole level designing, online community, this is fantastic. Personally it didn't last me long but I can see why it's so popular. DLC is costly though.
![]() | Dead Space (PS3)
Buy new: £12.70 / Used from: £7.99 Surprisingly this was one of my fave games of 2008. The disturbing setting and tight controls give this game an unsetlling quality which suits it perfectly. Definitely one for Resident Evil fans.
![]() | Tomb Raider Underworld (PS3)
Buy new: £12.41 / Used from: £9.99 I loved Legend, but didn't play Anniversary. This was a massive let down. Compared to new Prince of Persia the platforming controls were very awkward and combat a bit dull. A real shame after Legend.
![]() | Metal Gear Solid - Platinum
Buy used from: £6.95 Works fine on backwards compatibility (even the change CD and controller ports bits). I've just replayed this for the first time in years - doing the others again soon. Best games ever!!!
![]() | Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (PS2)
Buy used from: £1.98 Also plays well on backwards compatibilty. One of my favourite ever games, the control system hasn't aged well but it's still awesome.
![]() | Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence (PS2)
Buy used from: £49.89 I had never played this before owning the PS3 (fortunately I bought a new copy before the prices sky-rocketed!). Arguably the best in the series, and the most important to following the story of MGS4.
![]() | Killzone 2 (PS3)
Buy used from: £11.59 Easily the best PS3 exclusive FPS so far, and graphically one of the best games ever. Decent singleplayer campaign, but it's multiplayer where this really shines - almost a COD4 beater in my opinion.
![]() | Burnout Paradise - The Ultimate Box (PS3)
Buy new: £13.97 / Used from: £13.65 I didn't get into this when I had it on 360, but the bikes interested me, and all of the DLC has really added to it. I still prefer the older-style Burnout games but this is pretty cool.
![]() | Batman: Arkham Asylum (PS3)
Buy new: £17.99 / Used from: £17.95 Put your usual movie/comic character game assumptions to one side here - this raises the bar higher than most of its rivals put together. Batman fans will really appreciate the level of detail.
![]() | Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (PS3)
Buy used from: £15.99 Many have rightly described this as a cross between Gears of War and Tomb Raider. Both elements have their flaws but as an overall package this is a very decent game.
![]() | Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (PS3)
Buy new: £37.99 / Used from: £33.97 Massively improved over the first in every way. The combat has been made easier making it slightly more realistic, and the platforming is far less clumsy than before. How a sequel should be done!
![]() | Brutal Legend (PS3)
Buy new: £26.47 / Used from: £25.47 Based on the demo, the gameplay may not be my usual style, but the humour easily makes up for that. Will comment when I've played a bit more.
![]() | Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 (PS3)
Buy new: £32.52 / Used from: £39.89 I've had a break from Pro Evo for a couple of years but glad to be back. Not the best version ever (the passing?!?) but still beats boring FIFA - just download the kits if you're a realism fanboy!
