Manufacturer's Description

Pure digital radios

From the world leaders in DAB radio comes Chronos iDock - DAB digital and FM clock radio with iPod Dock.

Made for iPod Chronos iDock

A combined DAB digital clock radio and iPod docking system which is perfect for the bedroom, study, kitchen, or wherever your iPod likes to rest.

Based on the best-selling Chronos CD, Chronos iDock combines all the choice, features and ease of use of DAB digital radio with the convenience of iPod docking. Enjoy your music collection in high quality stereo sound, recharge your iPod and catch up on the latest music, sports news and debate on DAB.

Chronos iDock has a wealth of bedside alarm functions including four independent alarms, each of which can be set for weekdays only, weekends only or as a one-off. And you can choose to wake to DAB digital radio, FM, a simple tone alarm or even your iPod.

For added visual comfort, the light sensor adjusts the display brightness to suit the ambient light in your room. Handy front-panel connectors enable you to connect another iPod, MP3 player or portable CD player through the stereo speakers and to connect headphones.

A sleep timer allows you to drop off to your favourite station and the all-important snooze button is easy to find, with an adjustable snooze time for an extra lie-in when you deserve it.

For the ultimate in convenience, Chronos iDock is supplied with its own infrared remote control so you can operate all of the main functions and features as well as browse and play tracks stored on your iPod when it is docked, even if the radio is on the other side of the bedroom.

DAB logo

With Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB) you’ll discover a broader range of music, debate and ideas, all in crystal clear digital sound.
Many extra stations are available with DAB radio

Ease-Of-Use
Digital radios are much easier to use than analogue radios because they automatically search for all available stations. Once the radio has found all the available stations you just choose the one you want by name. No more trying to remember frequencies.

Wider Station Choice
With up to 55 DAB stations available in many areas, and more on the way, you’ll be spoilt for choice. As well as existing favourites like BBC radios 1-4, BBC radio 5 live, Classic FM and talkSPORT, there are also great exclusive-to-digital stations such as BBC 1Xtra, BBC 5 live Sports Extra, BBC 6 Music, BBC 7 and Planet Rock.

Digital Sound Quality
DAB is crackle-clear and hiss-free because it’s not subject to the same interference as analogue radio.

DAB Stations
There's more listening choice on DAB too. These great stations and many more are available in the UK on DAB digital radio. As DAB coverage varies, remember to check which stations are available in your area.

    Great item!5
I have found this item to be really great, and to do exactly what it is intended.

It works really well as a DAB radio, stations are easy to find, and sound good (I am in London).

I was worried before buying the idock as I wanted to use it with my iphone which is not officially supported. However, I have had no problems doing this, including using the remote control, and it sounds good, even with audiobooks. I should point out that I am not a music geek, so as long as the music sounds clear and not tinny I am happy! I have not had any of the buzzing at low volume that other people have complained of.

I was really undecided as to whether to buy this or the intempo RDI which does pretty much the same job, but after I went to look at them both in John Lewis I decided on this one as it is more compact and the ipod dock seemed more robust.

The other reason I like the Pure Chronos idock is that it is made to have as little impact on the environment as possible, both during manufacture and use. I do not find it to be overly light or flimsy as some of the reviewers have mentioned, and overall I am extremely pleased.

I am not a big review writer, but this idock seems to have been harshly reviewed on amazon, so I thought I would add my very positive experience! Hope it it useful.

    Good Points:
    - compact and looks good (in my opinion) on a bed side table.
    - great alarm functions, all four of them.
    - DAB features work really well.
    - easy to control ipod (and charges it up as well).
    - low energy usage in operation and standby.
    - clock automatically dims when lights turned off.

    Bad Points:
    - sound is okay but not great, there is a lack of clarity and bass with distortion at higher volumes. (UPDATE: turn off the DRC to improve sound quality - this would be worth another half star)
    - not cheap for what is basically a bed side radio.

In general I am happy with it as it does what it says on the tin and is also supposed to be good for the environment. Just don't expect Bose sound quality. To see what it looks like in action go to youtube and put pure and idock into the search box.

    Great product!5
I bought this as my bedside radio alaram clock and thought it would be worth noting a few points down here that people might miss out on......

    1) Works perfectly with my iPhone 3G. Plays all the music on it and charges it. It also charges the iPhone when in Standby so you can stick your iPhone on it overnight to charge and take it off in the morning when you wake up.

    2) You can choose which station to wake up to. You use your "presets" for this and when you set an alarm you tell the alarm which preset station to use. This means you can fall asleep to one station and wake up to another.

    3) The small card shaped remote comes with a couple of magnetic stickers so you can stick it up somewhere (or even to the device itself)

    4) You can choose the level of brightness when the unit is in standby. Your options are auto-dimming, timed (so you press a button to see the time) and permanently on where you can choose your brightness/contrast on a level from 1-10

Overall I'm very pleased with it and highly recommend it.
