Nice bit of kit5
Revo are a Scottish company who have led the way in Internet radio over the last few years. This model doesn't have DAB, but if you have wi-fi in the house that's hardly a problem as all the stations you want plus all podcasts (such as BBC listen again) are available to you. You'll need to use the online piece to set some of that stuff up as with 17,000 radio stations to choose from it's tricky to navigate with the device itself sometimes. However integration and set up are completely seamless. Within 10 minutes of getting the product I was listening to BBC 7 in excellent quality.

We need to support pioneering British companies in these difficult times, and if you're looking for the ultimate bedside clock radio with ipod dock, you'll struggle to improve on this. Sound quality is good (not exceptional - this isn't Bose but more than adequate for bedroom usage). Set up as I say, very easy and it looks and feels nice and solid next to the bed. The breadth of stations available on the internet is mind blowing and audio quality is better than DAB - depending on the compression used (although you won't really notice it on speech).

I recommend this product 100%.

A good radio - but some flaws, especially for Mac users3
I bought this as my regular DAB radio doesn't give me enough choices of radio station as I would like, and I had read good reviews of Revo's products in the past.

Unpacking the unit is a surprise, as it turns out to be quite small and neat, and not at all bulky as it appears in images. What these images also fail to show is the (frankly, cheap-looking) telescopic aerial on the back of the unit for the FM coverage and the inclusion of one of those annoying plug-in transformer dongles to power the unit.

Setting up the wi-fi reception from a broadband router was very simple, though if you don't have your router broadcast the SSID name of your network (as I don't), you will need to make the settings manually rather than use the radio's Wizard to do this. Once connected, the iBlik buffers the radio station very quickly, and I have never had a dropped signal since. One of the best features of the unit is the ability to set favourite stations via the Frontier internet radio website. This allows you to search through the hundreds of stations available on the internet and then create a favourite list, available on the iBlik almost instantly, making navigation of stations very quick. You can even assign ten preset stations to buttons on the unit. Sound quality is good through the single speaker, though the varying volume of some stations is a surprise, with some of the BBC streams sounding very quiet. The huge range of stations available can make trying to find the right one a pain when using the two-line display on the iBlik, but it is hardly Revo's fault that there are so many available. Sensibly, you can browse via location and genre, or search by name, and once a station is located it, it is only a short wait before the unit has buffered enough to start playing.

The iBlik works well with the three iPods we have (Touch, Classic & iPhone) and it was a bonus to discover it would charge the iPhone.

Overall, I like the iBlik a great deal, but feel that it is let down by the following flaws (and the first is a major problem for Apple users):
* I can't get the Music Player function to work with two different Apple Macs in the house, despite the manual being pretty comprehensive on the set-up (though the manual also says it won't work with OSX 10.5, Leopard, then proceeds to give you the instructions for this on the next page). Apparently it cannot play iTunes native .m4a files - which makes this feature useless for the majority of Apple users who haven't chosen to store their music as .mp3 files.
* The FM radio gives a good, clear sound, but the RDS display is hit and miss. Revo tell me that this is down to poor signal strength, but I'm just outside London & signal strength has not been a problem before.
* The telescopic aerial looks cheap and nasty on the unit - and I bent mine within a few minutes of unpacking the unit just trying to adjust it. There's no external aerial connection, which is a shame, as the supplied aerial spoils the look of the unit when in use & seems too fragile to keep extending or retracting as required.
* The plug transformer is an irritation. The size of the unit would suggest there would be room enough inside the unit for a power supply to avoid this.

Overall, this is a good solid radio, and the wi-fi radio is a joy. However, other elements let down the overall package, and for the price Revo ask, they shouldn't.

pretty poor1
I would love to recommend this as Revo are Scottish but I cannot find anything to recommend about this unit. It looks cheap, it sounds cheap and mine did not really work! Set up was easy but it kept stopping when playing for a few seconds every few minutes. Then when it was switched on it had lost its connection and would sit for minutes trying to find any network. Eventually when switched on and off a few times it would connect.
Internet radio is brilliant but this is not the way to get it!
Fortunately I got my money back!
