Amazon.co.uk Review
This somewhat unpleasant 1992 sequel to the blockbuster Home Alone revisits the first film's gimmick by stranding Macaulay Culkin's character in New York City while his family ends up somewhere else. Again, the little guy meets up with colourful people on the margins of society (including a pigeon woman played by Brenda Fricker) and again he gets into a prop-heavy battle with Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern. The latter sequence is even worse than the first film in terms of violence inflicted on the two villains (director Chris Columbus, who also made the first film, can't seem to emphasise the slapstick over the graphic effects of the fight). The best running joke finds a concierge (Tim Curry) at the swank hotel where Culkin is staying trying and failing to prove that the boy is on his own. --Tom Keogh

Synopsis
Kevin McCallister finds himself once again alone, this time in the big apple. The wet bandits--Harry and Marv-- have escaped from jail and, after a few more rounds with Kevin, probably would have been safer in jail.

A BEAUTIFUL CHRISTMAS MOVIE BUT DOESN'T BEAT THE 1ST
Although I find this movie 'Home Alone 2: Lost in New York' to be an excellent, funny and beautiful movie, I still think the first movie's a lot better.
In 'Home Alone' 1 Kevin is accidentally left at home when his family go on a Christmas holiday to France. Kevin has to protect the house from two really silly and very funny burglers and guess what?.....he wins.
Well, in this movie Kevin is accidentally left behind at the airport without him even knowing it. He gets on the wrong plane and arrives in New York. At first I think he really likes it since he was left with his father's rucksack and has lots of money and credit cards, enough to get him into a really cool and big hotel, anyway. Then after all the fun danger strikes and he has to flee for his life from the same two burglers from the first movie and the hotel staff (the burglers escaped from Jail and unbelievably appeared in New York. Crazy, eh)?
All the stuff that happened to Kevin in his house in the original movie happens all over again in his Aunt and Uncle's house while they're away getting their house remade....I think. The place is deserted when Kevin arrives. Kevin does most of the same things as he did in the first movie only some of them are in a funnier way or just differently done.
Once again the movie is happening at Christmas time and the soundtrack is just as beautiful as the original. There are a few new music pieces but most of it's the same, so that's cool.
Believe me, buy yourself this movie on DVD or Video as well as the first movie. This movie really does give you a very magical, warm, safe and Christmas feeling (not as much as the first one though). It's beautiful....but I still think the first movie is a lot more beautiful...I've already said that, haven't I (Laughs).
If you buy this movie along with the first I can definitely promise you this. Your Christmas this year in 2002 will be 200 times even more magnificent as any you've ever lived. 'Home Alone 1 & 2' will see to that...trust me.
a great film..but not as good as the original
although a great film in its own right this sequel is not a classic like the original home alone movie. the gags are very simerlar to the original film but in a diffrent setting and because of the original there is always that sense that you know whats going to happen. this is a great film to watch around christmas, with its excellent soundtrack that creates such a magical atmosphere. but really, a family forgeting there son twice in a matter of years, its not really all that realistic. but a jolly good christmas film none the less. also, watch out for the cameo by donald trump!
Better than the original masterpiece
This film is a must buy, for all those who loved the first movie. Once again Kevin is left on his own, this time with loadsa cash. He settles in to a luxury hotel, but soon, the two burgulars from the first movie turn up. Daniel Stern and Joe Pesci Who is the most versatile actor of all time btw.
Some say that many of Kevins tricks are the same as the first movie, but he does have new ones, and his old tricks have been modified.
A great gift for christmas as again it is set around christmas time.
