The Ultimate Crossover!!!!!
I still have detailed fond memories of recieving my weekly copy of Secret Wars delivered by the paper boy back in the 80's.So when it was released as a complete graphic novel with full colour pages i was foaming at the mouth.To me,this is simply one of the finest marvel storylines to be hatched up,not to mention being the greatest crossover i can remember.Think of practically everyone of your favourite heroes & villains(bar a selected few,well..nothings perfect) and chances are,they're in here! I wont go into a description of the actual story because i would probably do it a huge injustice so I'll just urge you to purchase this book because i can guarantee that even if you only have a fondness for a few of the major players in marvel(Spidey,Xmen,hulk etc..) you will not be able to put this down! Best graphic novel ever!!!!!

why did i stay away for so long?
I always read marvel comics as a child but sort of lost my way as i got older. My younger brother re-kindled my intrest recently with his ever increasing collection of vintage comics and graphic novels. I decided secret wars was a great way of re-introducing myself to the marvel universe, partly because of the amount of characters on veiw and partly because this particular story had stuck with me from my childhood. Needless to say i was not disappointed. The story moves along at a good pace with twists and turns. Even after all these years it holds up well. My only feeling of frustration is that with so many characters in one place none of them were given enough plot time or aloud to show their full characters. still, this does not take away from what is a great story and as i understand it the first marvel cross over. I would highly recommend secret wars to anyone as i feel theres something for everyone here. My only problem now is with so many intersting characters, who do i read about next? Happy reading.

Better than I remembered it
I bought the Secret Wars comics when they first came out -- and I still think of it as one of the most stimulating periods of comic writing. It was great to see the characters thrown into such a different environment together. Doctor Doom was better than ever. However, when I re-read Secret Wars in this one volume it was better than I remembered it. If you saw anything of it first time around, make sure you get this.
