awful
this is the worse book i haVE ever read by a nobody hanger on who now thinks hes a gangster. eric masons is bad, another one suddenly making himself far more important than they actually were as soon as all the krays were dead and of course theres always bernard o'mahoney, the worst of the worship the krays when alive but slag them as soon as they die brigade but this really is a cringe factor 1oo. no doubt there will be more from wraith, mason and o'mahoney and how they teamed up to see off the krankies. rubbish.
Fantastic read
A truly great book gives a good insight in how a Geordie lad became friends with the Krays from first writing to the Krays to getting a visiting order to meet them, to doing odd job's for them, and how he came to turn the Krays legend into good by helping charity's. a much have book for any Krays collection.
wicked!!!!
I read Stu's last book so was interested in this one as it's not a book based on the fight game, but still in true crime. I've read books by other crime writers and they never seem to be able to change their 'voice' - Stu has done that here, showing he's one of the best new talents in crime and deserves to be noticed because of it. He turned Steve's story into a well deserved winner of a Kray book - it's a quality read.
As people have said, the book covers a different angle to all the others. It's not a typical 'I'm tough, don't mess with me etc' book - it's a story about a normal kid from the North East who got to know a crime family and got in with all the hangers on. I was very interested in the Charlie drug case and loved reading up about Ronnie in prison!! And some of the characters he came across were amazing. I've got others and have they told it like this? I don't think so. In time to come, it will be regarded as one of THE Kray books to have. (Good to read he's moved on from being a doorman because he sounded a bit lame, no offence)- they make a good team and have produced an important study tool on the Krays.
