Beautiful but not foolproof(ed)4
I have had this book long enough to start making things from it.
There are ERRORS, - on PAGE 40 you will need 12 white squares not 10;
PAGE 52 states that the Momoyama holdall has a finished size of 28 x 45 - it ends up around 16 x 14 (thank goodness)and I believe that the cutting instructions for the lining fabric contains the 2 panels measuring 3" x 16" shown in the diagram on page 53 as being made from the main fabric.
PAGE 84 the blocks say to square up to 10" - but the cushions made from the same blocks (p87) clearly square up to 9"......just be sure to read and make sense of anything you make from the book before you start cutting.
Who proof read this? Did anyone?
I think some of the instructions for making the beautiful squishy bags could be clearer. More diagrams and possibly a bit of step by step info would have improved this area.
I really like all the bags, the needlecase, pincushion, scissor case and purse, the geisha girls are lovely, so a worthwhile book showcasing Japanese style fabrics - just be aware there may be other errors so take care when working your way through these items don't cut before you're sure what you need.

Lovely book5
I bought this book at Sandown Quilting Championships from Ann Muxworthy one of the authors and what can i say. The photographs are really beautiful and although the panel used on the front cover of the book has sold out there are plenty more similar ones to chose from in shops and on the internet. The instructions are simple to follow and there are many projects to make from small purses, pin cushions etc to larger items like wall hangings and bed quilts for the more experienced. After many years of quilting I always stayed clear of japanese fabrics but when i saw how beautiful they were and their depth of colour, I just had to give them a go and bought many fabrics and the book home with me from the show. I have to say, I would like to make all of the things in this book and maybe one day i will.

Georgeous!!5
I got this book originally because I wanted to make myself a new handbag using some of my stash fabrics. Having seen the whole book, I want to make everything! The photography is beautiful, the instructions easy to follow, and the fabrics make you want to go out and shop for everything Japanese! And I love the Geisha dolls. Lots of my friends and family will be getting stuff made from this book. Definitely worth the money.
