Product Description

The 11th in the series of Kaffe Fassett's highly successful patchwork and quilting books from Rowan is photographed in romantic Port Meirion, the Welsh village well-known for Clough-Elliss dramatic Italianate architecture and pastel painted walls which are the stunning backdrop for the 20 new quilt designs from Kaffe and his chosen designers. Rowan are unique in producing fabulous fabrics and patchwork and quilting books in which a team of quilt makers led by Kaffe Fassett design a collection of quilts using their fabric collection. The books are not about tricky piecing but the joyous use of unexpected colour stories. The quilts present tradition newly interpreted for a modern twist. It works rather like a cookery book: a sumptuous photograph of the finished project plus an ingredients list and written instructions illustrated with coloured diagrams, plus a 'flat shot' photograph and all the templates.

Exquisite and Sumptuous5
I love Kaffe Fassett's work but this book is really beautiful even for the Fassett and Rowan production partnership. The fabrics/colours are exquisite. The quilts are well-photographed, well-explained and very covetable, each one a work of art in itself. I itched to start sewing as soon as I opened the first pages. It was nice to see a mix of designs, styles and techniques too.

Every book is better than the last one though this will be a hard act to follow.

Bit disappointing3
I did not realise that they were not all Kaffe Fassett quilts, so a bit disappointing. Personally most of the quilts did not appeal and looked a bit of a jumble. I like colour but felt the materials let the designs down.

I had intended to get one for a friend as well mainly because she loves Port Meirion but changed my mind on seeing it.
