From the Back Cover
The first edition of The Gospel According to Jesus won wide acclaim in confronting the "easy-believism" that has characterized some quarters in evangelical Christianity. This expanded edition deepens the debate over "lordship salvation" and the biblical understanding of faith and works in adding three new chapters and an appendix. The new chapters: - The Vine and the Branches - The Promise of Justification - Tetelestai! The Triumph is Complete -- The appendix contains answers to the most often asked questions on the subject of what Jesus really meant when he said "Follow me."

Please read this book!5
Before I read this book I was your average "Sunday morning Christian". I did not really know what it meant to be a Christian. This book opened my eyes to see the real meaning of Christianity (a personal relationship with Jesus Christ). A life of love, submission, commitment, and surrender to Jesus Christ.

John MacArthur is one of the greatest Bible teachers of our day, I highly recommend this book for your reading.

The best book ever written on saving faith5
The Gospel According to Jesus is a must read for every Christian. John MacArthur, in his usual easy to read and clear way, hits the central tenet of Christianity, how does an individual inherit eternal life? Many folks, including pastors and other church leaders, believe surrendering to Jesus Christ as Lord is optional for saving faith. They claim all that is necessary is to accept Jesus Christ as Savior and if, later in your life you submit to His Lordship, so much the better. MacArthur, using the words of Christ Himself, shows there is no salvation without a willingness to follow Jesus as Lord. The message of this book is timeless, since it is supported with a plethora of scripture references. I heartily recommend the book to any Christian desiring to communicate the Gospel accurately. This book, along with a companion volume entitled Faith Works (The Gospel According to the Apostles), are indispensible tools in the Lord's work.

Must reading for anyone naming the name of Jesus Christ5
John MacArthur's clear and direct writing style combine well with the abundant and proper use of Scripture in making his point. Add to this that the issue John is addressing here is of such gravity--no less than "what is the Gospel of Jesus Christ"-- and the result in our estimation is to make "The Gospel According to Jesus" must reading for anyone naming the name of Jesus Christ. What we love most about John MacArthur's books is that they are packed with Scripture properly handled, and that his writing style makes his books very readable -- accessible to Christians of nearly any background. John's simple and eminently logical Scriptural "arguments" stay with you. The "Gospel According to Jesus" is truly an important book. The firestorm and controversy that "The GospelAccording to Jesus" created in the Evangelical community when it was first published is a stark and sober testimony to just how urgently needed this book was--and still is. Truly when a clear presentation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as spoken from the lips of our Lord himself can be so vehemently attacked by a large segment ofthe Evangelical community, it should make Christians everywhere take notice that there is something seriously amiss in the Body of Christ. With the prevalence of hyper-dispensational teaching and "seeker sensitve" doctrine in so many churches today, we think that The Gospel According to Jesus should be on every Christian's bookshelf. This book is a great aid to a sober examination of our own walk with the Lord, and of the way we share the gospel with others.
