Unique, beautiful and hauntingly unforgettable
A beautiful and genuinely haunting album - you'll be humming some of the tracks for weeks. If you like music that blends folk with more modern (almost) rock styling, then this is one you just have to own.
This is a goosebump album. I first heard "Gentlemen Who Fell" played on the radio while I was driving the car one day. Fortunately it was a quiet road because my concentration switched from the road to the radio in a heartbeat. I had no idea who Milla Jovovich was then, so had to force myself to remember the name until I could get to the record shop. I bought the album immediately on the strength of that one track, and I was so glad I did. Song after song kept me entranced with her unique style, and to this day the first few chords of pretty well any of them will send that shiver instantly down my spine again.
Not that long after it was first released the record company deleted it. An infuriating decision but a reflection of the fact that Milla was not yet the mega name she is now. The record companies, despite their bleatings about music sharing and supporting struggling artists, care only about sales traffic. I am relieved this album is back on the list again now. Borrow it from a friend if you like but believe me, you will want to buy your own copy. And so you should. It's an absolute gem.
(As an aside, I have found I now have a taste for the folk-rock music of Eastern Europe. The Czech band "Cechomor" is worth checking out - Bohemian and Moravian folk with a touch of rock. Sadly Amazon hasn't extended its reach this far yet but, trust me, if you like the Milla album then Cechomor's album of the same name is worth a look. If you can find it.)
A DIVINE INSPIRATION
This is one of the weirdest yet crazily beautiful c.ds you will ever hear. Whether ur listening to it whilst cleaning; sunday chilling, after party background tunes or in ur ipod I am sure you will love it. Honestly. It is worth the purchase. Her vocals are beautifully chalky and strewn with emotion. The lyrics are sometimes very ecclectic yet warm. Trust in me. This is a beautiful one off.
'ITS MY LIFE' will be the first dance at my july 2010 wedding. I love it that much.
who would have thought.....
i was reluctant to buy this album because it was described as "quirky" and how her sound was close to her roots and her traditional music from her home country... i had been looking at this album for months before i decided to take a chance and buy it.. i mean i absoloutely love her when it comes to acting... but as it turns out... i love her as an artist even more!!! This album is absoloutely brilliant... "quirky" it is... but she can pull it off with her sound.. her voice is just as beautiful as she is.. and even more!! i would urge any one reading this to buy the album... you wont be dissapointed!! its just a shame she hasnt released any more.... :(
