Bad pictures and movies in low light environments
I was expecting more from a Sony Cybershot. Pictures blurs a lot, especially in low light and the movies needs a superbright environment to turn out good. My next camera will have Image Stabilizer and Face detection.
Reasonable, at a good price
I bought this camera as a small walk-around camera for those times when I didn't want to carry my digital SLR around.
The image quality is surprisingly good in bright condition for a camera under £80, but it suffers badly from colour noise indoors and in other low light situations. The ISO1000 rating isn't really usable other than in an absolute emergency. The camera makes childish noises, however, these can be turned off easily enough, and when you've done so, it is suprisingly quiet in operation - ideal for discreet photography.
The construction is reasonable, but being made of a cheaper plastic the case scratches VERY easily, so if having a pristine product concerns you, then you will need a case. But hey, you get what you pay for.
It is reasonable for snapping photos out and about though, and can be found cheaply - Jessops are selling theirs for £60, and Tescos for about £70. If your budget can be stretched to £90-£100, there are better options (from Sony and other "proper" camera makers) out there on Amazon, however.
Sent it back!
Having owned and recommended Cybershots previously, I was very disappointed to receive this. It seemed more cheaply built and conceived - even down to the sounds it makes - compared to slightly more expensive Cybershots. Unfortunately I went for Amazon's 'Buy Together' recommendation and ended up with a case for it which is from a non-Amazon seller so I'm stuck with it. Kind of miffed.
