Definitely a CATastrophe, as Hamish gets into a spot of bother4
in this more complex tale from Ronda and David Armitage.

32 high quality shiny pages, in the popular 2-page spread format, illustrated throughout, and enhanced by witty speech bubbles.

Aimed at the older, more confident reader, the text size is on the smaller side.

From the back cover:-

`When Mr Grinling accidentally locks Hamish and the lighthouse key inside the lighthouse, trouble looms.
Unless he can get back inside, no-one will be able to shine the light for the ships that night.
Luckily, Mrs Grinling comes up with a solution.....'
as usual!
But it is not as simple as it sounds!

Example of text:-

`Mr Grinling was a lighthouse keeper. He lived with Mrs Grinling, in a little white cottage on the cliffs. Every morning he rowed out to his lighthouse to clean and polish the light. Every morning Mrs Grinling prepared a delicious lunch for him.

At lunch time Mrs Grinling packed the lunch in a basket and sent it down the wire to the lighthouse.

On high days and holidays when the sun shone Mr and Mrs Grinling opened up the lighthouse, hung the key safely on its hook inside and spent many contented hours fishing.
Hamish the cat lazed about in the sun. From time to time he roused himself to chase the seagulls. This particular morning chasing seagulls was not what Hamish had in mind. He was much too busy enjoying himself in other ways.......'

But his antics anger Mr G as he chases Hamish into the lighthouse and slams the door shut......without thinking!
When his stomach reminds him it is lunch time (as usual), Mr G suddenly realises what he has done!
Hamish ....and the key...... are trapped inside the locked lighthouse!
Mrs G reminds him of the spare key and off they row.
What could be simpler?
Mr G is his usual forgetful self and although he does get the spare key, ...........things get a little out of hand, as usual....with those pesky seagulls up to no good.
And....... life gets even more complicated as a storm threatens, and time starts to run out!
Does Mr G succeed in getting Hamish out of the lighthouse and the light on in time for the bad weather?

Memorable lighthouse story -- a real favourite!5
My daughter and I used to check this book out of the public library. I have been searching for it. It is such a cute story. It is a "must" for anyone who likes lighthouses and cats!
