Great combo of family entertainment and modern technology
This is a very well designed music quiz, providing much enjoyment and fun for all. It combines traditional family entertainment with modern technology very effectively. It is convenient and simple to use, and suitable for all the family with the wide range of choice of different eras to be tested on in the quiz.
Now That's What I call FUN!
Just bought this as a Christmas present for somebody, but curiosity got the better and I pulled the wrapping off to give it a go...
Hours later, me and two friends were STILL playing it! :)
There's plenty of music & video clips to go with the questions, and a lot of pictures too - ignore the reviewer who said there hardly is any! If I was the suspicious sort, I'd say he was somebody who had worked on a rival product! The text doesn't hurt my eyes at all (even after a few pints, heheh), and the questions vary a lot in difficulty though I thought this was more down to your own knowledge (I don't know the difference between Girls Aloud & Atomic Kitten, but I do know my Pink Floyd from my Stranglers).
The 'Top 40' game is probably the best one if there's a few of you, 'Top 20' is great but I could see it dragging on *forever* on multi-player - it's so easy to get overly confident and go for just one more question, then see your postion go crashing back down again when you get it wrong! Good fun tho, especially when your clawing up to the #1 spot and your frustrated opponent is still somewhere around #18 :)
The I-Spy game was good too, but can only be played multi-player unfortunately. Also requires you to 'say' the answer out loud, and then asks you if you got it right... it sounds dumb, but it's the only way it could work really. Drunken friends cheat tho, and click "Yes" when they didn't (grrr).
Anything wrong?
We did see some repeated questions after a while, but this is only to be expected (and kind of unavoidable I suppose) but thankfully it wasn't too bad, even after our fairly extended game sessions.
We thought the fact that it didn't tell you which answer was correct when you got it wrong was a bit stupid, until we got that same question again - we *still* didn't know the answer so had to take a wild guess! I suppose the developers included this as a way of extending the game's lifespan?
A small gripe: sometimes, the response time between questions/menu's is a bit slow, but this seemed to happen more on the cheaper player in my bedroom than it did on my good one. I tested it on a PC, and everything was super fast... so it seems this isn't something we can really blame on the game. If it's slow when you play, you need a better player! LOL
All in all a great little game, a damn sight better than a lot of the other interactive tosh floating around, and well worth the money. Now to wrap it up, give it as a gift, and get all the answers right on Christmas day!!
Great pop idvd game
The NOW thats what i call music series continues with its first interactive DVD game. This is the first idvd ive bourght and its easy to play - you just use your remote control.
This game is fun to play with easy, medium or hard challenging questions aimed at all ages for me and my teenage boys.
The good thing about this game is I can play this with my kids as you can choose the decade you want for each question so i can go for 80s questions and they can go for more modern stuff.
Questions are multiple choice and you have 15 seconds to get it right. Theres loads of good video clips, album sleeves, photos and songs throughout the game also.
I like the gameplay where you have to climb the charts to NO.1 I will be playing this with my mates after the pub also as well as with my kids.
