Amazon.co.uk Review
The first thing you'll notice about the third season of Ghost Whisperer: More special effects! In the opening episode, a street collapses into a black, yawning crevasse. Eternally dewy Jennifer Love Hewitt stars as Melinda Gordon, who speaks to the dead with a firm glint in her eye and an abundance of cleavage (though the costume department is a tad more discreet this time around). With the assistance of her hunky husband (David Conrad), her skeptical best friend (Camryn Manheim, The Practice), and a wisecracking professor of the occult (Jay Mohr, Saturday Night Live), Melinda helps ghosts cross over to the other side. But woven through the entire third season is Melinda's investigation into her own family secrets (featuring Martin Donovan, The Opposite of Sex, as Melinda's mysterious father), culminating in a high-stakes season finale that's much more satisfying that season two's fairly forced conclusion. Mind you, this season is unlikely to convert viewers who prefer their ghost stories without warmhearted resolutions (almost every ghost just needs to tell someone how much he/she love him/her), but there are some clever twists and setups: A dead photographer creates pictures from the afterlife; a mother actively cultivates being haunted by her dead son because she's afraid he's too young to cross over on his own. Several episodes reveal how the town of Grandview is built on the ruins of an older city, which is--surprise!--full of unhappy ghosts. This gesture towards cultivating a mythology smacks a bit of Buffy the Vampire Slayer or The X-Files, but who doesn't like a haunted underworld? The more the show leans towards spookiness and sprinkles the earnestness on lightly, the stronger it is. --Bret Fetzer

Synopsis
GHOST WHISPERER centers around a small-town antiques-store owner, Melinda Gordon (Jennifer Love Hewitt, PARTY OF FIVE), who realises she has the ability to communicate with ghosts. Melinda puts her unique skills to work by helping the dead find emotional closure while depending on her paramedic husband, Jim Clancy (David Conrad, ROSWELL), her new friend Delia Banks (Camryn Manheim, THE PRACTICE), and Professor Rick Payne (Jay Mohr, ACTION), an expert in the occult, for moral support. The complete third series is presented in this collection.

The Truth Is Out There, Can you see the light?5
As a fan of the series (and of the sexy JLH, too) I awaited this release eagerly and have watched all eighteen episodes in a very short space of time. The storyline of Melinda's father and the past of Grand View coming to the surface are both surrounded by the "stand alone" stories where a ghost needs crossing into the light. In the tradition of The X Files these more "normal" episodes give the viewer a chance to recover from the revelations regarding the main storylines.

As with the previous seasons I had a tear in my eye as the episodes unfolded. The balance in each story of humour, pathos, sadness and joy is so well done that I always wanted more. Jay Mohr was phenomenal as Rick Payne and gave the series a really good new angle which was being developed in season 2. David Conrad was a solid husband to Jennifer's lovely, sexy and (dare I say more raunchy) Melinda. Camryn Manheim was suitably cautious in her belief of the reality of Melinda's gift, despite the constant evidence of the truth. The setting of the town square, so often to feature in my past favourite shows, was as wonderful to see as it always is.

I am now so looking forward to receiving the notification that Season 4 is on it's way. Is there to be a Season 5? I hope so.

And one more time, Jennifer Love Hewitt you are so sexy and brilliant, how can we help but love you?

spooky somehow5
I personally dont like spooky movies, but there is something to this series which chains me to my seat and makes me see it. I enjoy the message of love and of freeing a soul from its burden, so that it finds the path to go to the after world in peace. fascinating serie
