Customer Reviews
Lisa, such an extraordinary artist
It's the third album from Lisa that I had a chance to listen to after Falling Water and Changes (in that order, the first one I bought on Amazon and I didn't regret a single penny I spent.
Lisa's voice is just as beautiful and emotional as in the other two albums, but she allowed herself to try different styles in this album, which seems a bit strange at first hearing, but which really makes you appreciate it more each time you listen to it.
A couple of "rock"-alike songs like the "Driving One Of Your Cars" or "Cherio" in which Lisa's voice and the arrangements mix perfectly. "Sad Lullaby" & "Quietly" are really pop music brought to perfection, in pure Lisa style, while "How To Stop" and 'What If" tend to bring emotion with very limited arrangements and striking vocals.
And then you have a couple of unexpected and hence really beautiful and striking songs, such as "Paperback Boy", an exquisite romantic ballad, and "Mary Bell', in which Lisa is accompanied by a simple guitar arrangement and in which her voice seems to turn a bit Irish.
Romantic, melodious with a few surprising songs and more "rocky" arrangements, simply a perfect cocktail ...
A hidden track!!!
I just love this record. It's a mixture of heavy guitar playing and some smoother guitars. I've owned the cd for over a year and only two days ago (July 11th 2002) discovered the hidden track Cheerio by accidentally "rewinding" the first track. It's 4:38 minutes long and definitely the best track on this record. It's even better than Driving One Of Your Cars! Buy this one.
