A good VEGAN guide for the large CITIES2
As in my title, I put the emphasis on vegan, as the authors of the book have. So that is a bit mis-represented in the title of the book. The authors are strongly against use of eggs and cheese too. The 'large cities' comment I put in because, taking the example of France, only Paris is listed. The French obviously don't eat vegetarian, sorry, VEGAN, anywhere else, and if you go on a tour of the country, this book is therefore not very usefull. Now the UP side: not only do they list restaurants, they also list healthfood stores. Brilliant idea. And they give you a list of foreign vocabulary, which is brilliant again, as most little travel books only list the different meats you will find on the menu and not things like nuts and tofu. But, FRUSTRATION!, no eggs and cheese translated again. Why not? I like eggs and cheese. Lots of vegetarians do! Anyway, to conclude, another downside: Prices of the italian things still in Lires? Can I trust these restaurants to still exist?. ..... Hmmmmmm.... I'll give it the benefit of the doubt, but if known, wouldn't have bought it.

Excellent idea but Needs Updating3
A brilliant book but embarrasingly out of date. This is a pre-Euro guide with prices still in French Francs, German Marks and Dutch Guilders etc

So far we have used the guide in Berlin, Copenhagen, Prague, Brussels, Krakow, Warsaw and Amsterdam and it has proved to be a very useful resource. However, it is advised to do some web-based research before travelling to find out if some of the places listed still exist.

Since the guide was written dozens of new vege places have opened up in most if not all of the cities listed. Alex, please please try and update this book if you have the resources and information. This book could become the 'bible of vegatarian travel' if it contained up to date information.

The guide is written in a very friendly manner with emphasis on vegan food. It contains useful phrases, travel tips and selected city guides. If this book was revamped with glossy pages, pictures and sample menus from the establishments I'm sure it would become a best seller.

Only worth having in big cities2
I just spent nearly 3 weeks travelling round Europe and went through 10 countries, but amazingly only went to 1 of the destinations listed in this book. Rather than being a comprehensive guide of places where vegetarians can eat all over Europe, it only lists restaurants in huge cities where even mainstream guidebooks like Lonely Planet already list vegetarian restaurants. I therefore didn't find it useful at all.
