Customer Reviews

The 60 minutes in the title refers to the length of time it took to put the CD together1
We bought this CD to learn a few phrases of Danish for a family reunion.
The quality of the CD is awful. It has been edited together from stray clips from the cutting room floor. It is as if a 3 year old with no concept of continuity had been set loose on the tapes with a pair of sissors.
The English speakers change randomly (clearly showing the mashup nature of this recording) between English and US
The Danish speakers have been picked for their uncanny ability to mumble into a microphone. Danish is a language in which consonants are often swallowed, but it doesn't help if you don't know whether you are swallowing a g, v, b etc. The female speaker is better than the male... but that is not saying a lot.
The phrases they use are (according to my Danish relatives) either hopelessly out of date, or verging on rude in their directness (eg the tape tells you the phrase for "give me a" but not "please may I have").
The way the tape plays the word then expects you to say it then replays the word whilst OK is not the best way to remember phrases because it gives you nothing to hang the memory onto to trigger recall.
Overall this is bad enough that the only thing I really learnt from this CD is not to buy another Berlitz product no matter what the price.
