Smart French is True to Life
My goal has always been to speak FRENCH and I've been working towards that goal for several years. I have purchased the Pimsleur courses I, II and III; Berlitz computer and audio courses; Living Language Complete Course and Ultimate French on the Go and at Home; just to name a few. Then this past August, my husband and I traveled to Paris and it was as if I hadn't studied a day!! They speak at break-neck speed and DO NOT want to speak slowly for a foreigner. I knew something was missing in my studies and now I've found it. It's SMART FRENCH! You may not want to face it, but `spoken French' is an art and needs to be learned from REAL French speaking people. Last night I dreamed I was speaking in French and yesterday my husband and I watched a French movie and I could actually understand a lot of what was said without reading the subtitles. [Which, many times were different from what was actually being said ;-] I thoroughly recommend this course to anyone who wants to truly speak French correctly and to be able to HEAR French when it is spoken by Real French people! ;-)

This is an amazing way to advance in learning French whether you are a beginner or like me need to brush up your french knowledge. What is astounding is the methodology used. A unique brilliant way that guides you with ease on the way you can speak French as the French do and in so doing comprehending French very easily.All the way from Beginner to Advanced you are given the linguistic tool of being aware of the nuances you must choose to perfect your accent and understanding.This is done by live interviews - always appealing because of the variety of people and jobs, their interests and humour. Never dull. Unlike most French courses offered this one does give you a leap forward. I think Christian Aubert has succeeded in recognising how the non native speaker can be made aware of how easy it is to speak French and understand it because of his acute awareness of what people think they hear and how to recognise it.

I have been studying the CDrom for the past 2 weeks and I cannot believe the change in my listening and comprehension! My biggest frustration has always been the inability to separate the words and phrases in spoken French. Now, I can listen and discern TF1 news reports and interviews. On top of that, my speech has changed - my French has acquired a melody and tone to it that surprised even my French speaking friends. I spend 2 hrs a day listening and repeating; to the point that I can feel the muscles in my face being `trained' to move in a different way. No other French class had such results for me. The phonetics I was taught in college sound primitive and crude in comparison to the way I am learning to speak now. Bravo Smart French
