In the basic list we put all the words that appear systematically in every conversation. Table, crayon pencil, or avion airplane, would be included in the primary vocabulary list but not in the basic vocabulary list where you will find words like, for, that, what, I, of, in, am, etc... We made an interesting discovery: 65% of all words used by people when they speak are basic words regardless of the theme of the conversation. After you work with these vol.1 and Vol.2, you will know 65% of every conversation you will happen to hear or be a part of. You will be ready to go further and work on real dialogs. The teacher on the CD is really gifted. He speaks at a perfect speed, or tempo, his voice is easy to listen to, and he's SMART! It's literally like taking a French class without having to go to school. He gives you tips, clues, and ideas on how to remember things. You get the sense that he truly wants to help you become proficient in speaking French. Have you felt like giving up on learning French? Try this program and you'll get excited about it again. This is excellent
I visited Paris just over a month ago and came back with a huge desire to learn French, to speak the language as French people do. I bought another audio CD, which was okay, but it just concentrated on learning set sentences. That's fine, but it doesn't make you feel like you are learning the language.

This CD concentrates on the alphabet and numbers (very useful if you want to tell your taxi driver you want to go to terminal 2E). I like the way it tells you not to worry about what each letter or number is in English but to concentrate on how it sounds. How, if you repeat them often enough, you will just know what they mean. It's all about listening in order to improve pronunciation. It then moves on to grammar. Which, to me, is wonderful and which is why I felt the need to write this review. My other audio CD teaches you set sentences, so that you can speak French. This CD teaches you grammar, so that you can understand French. It's made me feel that I will be able to learn the language a lot quicker than I thought I would be able to and it has really improved my confidence with speaking French. I think it's excellent.

Fantastic for French Learners
I found the Smat French CD extremely useful. Smart French proviede me with exactly what I needed to know in order to learn french quickly. I studied these cds in combination with the 'Smart French beginner' cds. My Both products are perfect together.
