About the Author

Until May 2008 Hara Garoufalia-Middle taught Greek at both the University of Westminster and the City Literary Institute. Now she concentrates on teaching classes at the City Lit, as well as writing. Howard Middle is a consultant and project manager in the field of English as a Foreign Language. He was National Manager for Trinity College London's ESOL exams in Greece until mid 2009 and remains a consultant for this exam board.

Learning Greek! You need this
I have been using the cds for two weeks now and am finding myself creating sentences in greek, easily and naturally. Instead of learning sentences, these cds help you to learn how to create sentences, enabling you to alter nouns and verbs to suit the situation and therfore speaking Greek rather than spitting out learnt phrases that you do not really understand. There is no homework, in fact they tell you not to think about the lessons when you are not listening to them. They are very easy to listen to and it feels as though you are having a lesson with a teacher and two other pupils, who get things wrong occassionally and there is a certain amount of humour injected into the lessons. If you want to learn to read then these CDs will not help you, as everything is spoken, which I think helps you to learn the language quicker. I find I can listen to the CDs with ease every night for about an hour and bit by bit find myself answering the questions quicker and with more fluidity. Anyone wanting to learn Greek, these CDs are your first stop. If you are completely new to the language, then start with the Beginners pack and work up to foundation. I see that this the advanced course comes out in November and i am aiming to be able to buy that when it is published and continue with my learning.
Please do not look anyhwere else for you Greek learning. I have tried many other CD packs, three in fact but this is the only one that has stuck and easy.

I've tried a plethora of language-learning systems but for me this is my absolute favourite. You need to listen attentively (it's not a magic bullet), but very quickly my Greek has vastly improved - and I have only listened to 3 of the 8 CDs so far!

I have tried many of the other Greek language learning books and systems, and have been to evening classes, but this products shines above all, can't wait to finish it an move onto the advanced one!

A fun and easy way to learn Greek
A fun and relatively easy way to learn Greek. You start with words and sentences that are used often in the language instead of difficult grammar. Speaking first instead of rules first. In the setting of one teacher and two students, you feel like the third student. It all seems very easy (while the Greek language really isn't) and after a period of not learning I was surprised to find that I had remembered most of what I'd learnt. I also love the teacher and her memory aids. For the verb 'perimeno' (to wait) she tells you to think of Perry Mason, waiting in the courtroom.
