Best basic norwegian book ive read

Saying this is mainly based on CD's with a book to follow. I have only listened to the full thing a few times however I'm quickly picking it all up! Theres some things missing that and it doesnt cover that much but as I said its the best basic book Ive come across & due to that I'm now moving on with my norwegian skills

- it REALLY helps with the actual speaking and the accents.

More of a vocabulary guide than a course
Having bought this I wouldn't reccomend it as a first introduction to Norwegian. This is not really a language course, more it is a collection of audio tracks with English phrases and their Norwegian translations, and a booklet with the same phrases written down.

Handy if you want to learn some more Norwegian phrases, but not as a starting point for learning the language.

Great for organised learning by topics - but best alongside another course
The idea behind Perfect Recall isn't particularly ground-breaking, and it isn't really a language course as such - it's more of a talking phrase book, with a booklet arranged by topic, and two CDs of the phrases simply being read out one by one. As such, there's nothing in the way of grammar, or systematic sentence-building skills, and it wouldn't be very useful on its own.

However, it is great as a supplement to other courses, thanks to the way the words and phrases are arranged by topic. The audio material is good quality, read out very clearly, and working with them regularly for a short amount of time a day will quickly increase your word power in Norwegian. I'd recommend using a starter course like Colloquial Norwegian: A Complete Language Course (Colloquial Series) alongside this, to maximise your learning - then you'll have the best of both worlds.
