Basic book in Spanish Literature
You can't go without it. It is a beautiful gem, if you are into Spanish Literature you must not go without. It describes perfectly the atmosphere and society of a post-medieval Castilla in the 16th century. If you ever wish to read 'El Quijote', this is your first step before you attempt to do so. If you are learning Spanish and this is your first year, I don't recommend you to read it yet: it is a bit difficult because it is not modern Spanish. Try after one or two years of learning Spanish, this edition is the one for you:

1.It has changed the really old words.

2.It has notes that clarifies terms.

3.You have a very good translation of the text on the right; it helps to check and it helps when you get lost!

The 'picaro' figure survives still in Spain, how can you go without reading a book written by a authentic 16th century one?.
