Such a clever writer, who weaves the psychology with period detail and a bit of romance mixed in, but never loses the thread of the narrative, Excellent!

I was attracted to this by the cover when I was loking for a book during a long wait at Stanstead and BOOM! it hits you between the eyes from the first page. Fandorin is a wonderful character.

A real page turner, I wanted to find out what happened next but did not want it to end.

I had been prepared, by some reviews , to be a bit disappointed by this book which collects two shorter stories originally published separately in Russian but they are linked & it is the best yet!
