User's Review of map
Despite being the "recommended map" in the associated Discovery Walking Guide, I did not find this map very useful. The map concentrates on the walks described in that guide, and shows very few of the numerous other waymarked paths on the island, meaning that it is very difficult to extend or create your own walks. The map is described as GPS ready, but does not include a grid - it is therefore inpossible to locate your current postion from a GPS reading. Although the map 1:40,000, it does not include a graduated scale printed on it, hence you have to do a bit of maths to work out distances. The Freytag & Berndt, and Kompass alternatives provide all of the above, and I regret not having spent my money on one of these instead.
La Palma Waterproof road map
All in all - one of the best maps for accuraccy and information I have bought for a holiday island .Just a warning - all the road numbers have changed - but with a little common sense and reading the map properly and as the island is not too big you soon realise when you are going the wrong way so , you should not really get lost!! Also the La Palma town names on the road signs are shortened sometimes - or not on the map !!
But thats the fun of a holiday map!
