Fine photography5
Harvey is an excellent photographer and this book offers some vivid scenes from his daily travels on Birmingham's 11C route. Using wide-angle exposures, he manages to reflect the full spectrum of Birmingham's streets. Capturing over five hundred kebab houses and eighty massage parlours for posterity is no minor achievement. One or two of the shots are marginally obscured by the inevitable chewing gum and graffiti on the bus windows, but the quality is largely very fine. The spirit of Birmingham is perhaps best encapsulated by the photograph on page nine- in which a young student is seen urinating against a parked car whilst gorging herself on curry and chips.
