Synopsis
This guide contains afternoon rides designed around the city parkland, canals and countryside of Birmingham. Avoiding cars wherever possible, these 20 rides explore unexpected green nooks and sights of interest in and around Birmingham. Easy rides are listed for children and beginners, and offroad rides for mountain bikers. There are also listings of cafes and pubs en route, and all the ride instructions are accompanied with detailed mapping. This book provides the information to enable you to: visit the Jewellery Quarter and Aston Hall by bike; carve a car-free figure-of-eight round the central canals; pedal round the two towers; explore the parkland corridors of the suburbs; mountain bike the Lickey; Clent and Waseley Hills; collect towpath miles on the Main Line and Dudley waterways; find the green trails in north Wolverhampton; and do the Curly Wyrley round Walsall.
Customer Reviews
Brilliant....... and under our noses !
Spiral bound and conveniently sized, this is a superb book for any Brum cyclist.
Clear and easy to follow routes, taking in much of B'ham & Black country's famous (Venice) canals and waterways.
Each route is clearly identified, with total length, of which how many km on road ,km off road, places of interest along the way, and graded and even if suitable for the children.
We intend to "explore " these routes as a family and get fitter at the same time.
Best of all, most of these routes we actaully drive OVER several times a day and we didn't know they existed !
(hence under our noses....... )
If you want a "local" Brum guide this is it !
Well done Nicky Crowther :)
