Customer Reviews

not as expected2
I didnt enjoy this book at all. I have read most of Barbara Erskine's books which I found once started were unable to put down. However, this collection of 30 short stories didn't have that "magic" feel at all. I found it extremely difficult to stay with the book as it just didnt hold my concentration. If you have read any of Erskine's other books - such as Whispers in the
Sand, House of Echoes, Midnight is a Lonely Place and are a fan of scary, magical, suspense novels then I dont think this is the right book for you.

A must for new and established Barbara Erskine readers5
A real treat for established Barbara Erskine fans as well as a splendid introduction to new readers. This book contains THIRTY short stories - although three are lengthy enough to be practically novellas. This volume illustrates the versatility of an author who can turn her hand, successfully, to many genres from pure romance to chilly spine-tinglers, historical to contemporary. No sooner are you gently lulled into a sense of romantic contentment and well-being, than she thrusts you again into the maelstrom of suspense. There is something for everyone in this volume. I highly recommend it.

Captivating and varied5
An enjoyable collection of short stories, varied enough to entertain everyone! The author writes wonderful stories, including funny ones, happy ones, romantic ones and those creepy ones with a little twist in the tale! Great stuff!
