Product Description

Six lively spreads simplifying the seemingly complicated laws and language of music. Children start to make music from a very early age, so by the time they are 6 or 7 they are ready to grapple with notation. In fact the reader of this book can open it with no knowledge of musical notation and close it with a real understanding of music on the page. An entertaining and absorbing read with ingenious pop-ups and moving parts. This book will launch you into a musical world.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
By the creators of The Terrific Times Tables Book and The Great Grammar Book, The Magnificent I Can Read Music Book is great fun to play with. Full of tabs and flaps it makes the complicated business of learning to read music seem like a game. It is jam-packed with vital information, given in speech bubbles by animal characters such as the cat and her smiling kittens who chorus 'The distance between low C and high C is called an octave. Play them both.' Starting with some simple rhythms to be jiggled to by the pull-up characters and ending with a tiny keyboard and a musical cat pointing out the notes with its tail, it covers the musical alphabet, the length of notes, time signatures and even introduces a few sharps and flats. As background information to learning the clever interactivity is fun to absorb but it may not make complete mastery of reading music very much easier. (Age 7 and over) -- Julia Eccleshare

Highly recommended - for children and their parents5
LOVED by children and adults alike - so much fun had by everyone, and kept the kids occupied with pulling and popping and pushing for hours. All these books have made brilliant, much welcomed presents for friends' children - AND they're educational - hurray

This is a lovely book. It's beautiful, entertaining and educational, but

I bought it for my daughter for last christmas and was dissappointed to find the batteries for the keyboard in the back of the book didn't work. We managed to find replacement batteries and it still doesn't work properly as the batteries that were included in the book had corroded ...

So, when buying the book, make sure you buy a new book that hasn't been sitting arround for a long time.
