Complete Cello Technique - Customer Review
The first thing that I should say about this book is that it was written in the 1920's and has been translated from the original French. Both the French and English texts appear side by side, interspersed with etudes, photos and diagrams. Also because it was written in another era the descriptions and instructions may be hard to follow for some people.

All of the main aspects of both the cello and cello playing are covered. One word about his left hand scheme: it is very non-standard in that he advocates large intervals between fingers over and above changing position of the hand (shifting). The author also has large hands so some of his fingerings may be difficult to achieve.

Although I would not recommend this as the main study course for cello students there are many positive aspects to this book. It would make a good complement to other cello material you have, providing unique viewpoints on certain topics.
