Manufacturer's Description
About The James Martin Collection

TV Chef James Martin has teamed up with Wahl to produce this comprehensive product range. Consisting of 14 products, this range combines high quality and value to provide you with precision products.

About James Martin

James Martin was born into the chef's life: his father ran the catering side of Castle Howard stately home in Yorkshire, and when he was only 12, James could boast that he'd cooked for the Queen Mother on her visit there.

At 16, he went to Scarborough to begin his formal training. While there, he was student of the year for three years running. His work was noticed by Antony Worrall Thompson who brought James to London to work, first at 190 Queensgate and then at dell'Ugo. James then travelled throughout France working in the kitchens of French chateaux alongside the matriarchs of grand old families.

On his return to Britain, at age 22, he opened the Hotel and Bistro du Vin in Winchester where, as head chef, he changed the menu every day.

His TV career started in 1996 when he became a regular team member on Ready Steady Cook and he has since appeared in numerous TV shows such as Delicious!, James Martin Sweet and Yorkshire’s Finest as well as Castle in the Country and Stately Suppers for the BBC. In 2006 he impressed fans with his dancing skills in Strictly Come Dancing. James now presents Saturday Kitchen live on BBC One every Saturday morning as well as appearing in the Great British Village Show on BBC One and Sweet Baby James on BBC Two.

James is the author of numerous cookery books including the recent James Martin's Great British Winter, published in 2006.

The James Martin Electric Wok takes the contact grill system to a new level. The unique integrated diffuser allows you to add marinades and flavours directly to the food whilst cooking to give intense, fresh flavours. Even when cooking standard meat and veg dishes, the unit can be filled with water to keep the food moist and avoid that classic grill problem of dry, tasteless food. The large cooking surface area means even the largest of families won't go hungry for long.

    Great4
I bought this for my husband to replace two previous George Foremans and he has been happy with it for months now. I must say that he quickly gave up on using the steam option though as he mostly uses it for bacon and sausages which don't seem to need it. His first Foreman was hard to clean and was eventually relegated to the dustbin because it looked filthy. For the second Foreman, he chose one with removable heating plates but grease used to dribble everywhere but in the receptacle provided hence the purchase of this machine. So far, it cooks well, it cleans well and the excess fat and grease end up in the detachable drawer provided.

    Disappointing3
At the full price, this would only get one star, but at less than £20 it makes sense. It has no features apart from a humidifying system that must have cost all of "almost nothing", which is what it does. Good non-stick surface means it's not too difficult to clean the fixed cooking plates. No controls to go wrong on the unit, just turn it on and off at the mains. But it does de-grease whatever it cooks, and meats are well-cooked and succulent. Finally, it's well enough made, exactly what you would expect from a Chinese factory working to a good standard of Quality Control.

At the cut price it's a good buy for someone who does not intend using it too often. If you have low expectations, it's for you. It is for me too!

    not for me2
this really disappointed me the food is supposed to drain into the centre and out through 2 little slots. i find that when cooking sausages these slots clog up very quickly and either because the plates arent on a slope or because it doesnt get hot enough i find that the sausages are coated with globs of fatty debris and when they cool you can see just how much white fat is on them. i did find it good for grilling chops and using the water chamber did stop them from drying out so much but overall im not impressed and am going back to my old george.
