NATHAN Elite 1 Hydration WaistpackThe lightweight Elite 1 hydration waistpack comes with a 22 oz. hydration bottle, which fits into the angled and insulated holster, allowing quick access. This is helped by performance features such as the XTS cradle. The XTS Cradle securely hugs the hydration bottle but allows for smooth, easy bottle removal and replacement. Another feature is the zipped mesh pocket for small essentials. Moisture Wicking Lumbar Back material is used which pulls moisture away from your body, increasing comfort and reducing potential chafing. Customer Reviews
Nice item but too delicate to survive
I loved this item at first - the pack was comfortable, secure, seemingly well made and nice looking. I like the bottle too. The downside came after about 2 weeks of use. One cold, rainy night, whilst getting out of the car and setting off for my warm-up walk, I tried to fasten the pack round my waist. I must have misaligned the plastic fastener, and as I pushed to fasten the belt, I heard a 'ping' and half the fastener (one of the two flexible lugs) snapped and went flying off into the darkness. The other one could not hold the thing alone and the item became instantly useless. The misalignment was my fault, agreed, but in the real world, these things happen. Compare the plastic fastener design on the 4485 Elite 1 with the shape on Nathan's own Elite X-trainer. It's completely different. The Elite X-trainer has a more conventional and more rugged fastener that would not 'ping' off into the night if you got it wrong. The Elite 1 fastener is very weak at that design point. Look at an intact one to see what I mean. I don't see why they went for that shape component. Very disappointing as I otherwise really liked this product. If you are EXTREMELY careful and never fasten the thing when you are distracted by getting lashed with rain, then it may give you lots of trouble free service. or maybe your spouse will 'ping' it with one use and you can have a nice row about it. Probably best avoid it.
Hydration waistpack
I pondered over so many of these type of products, & settled on this one, thankfully. It sits perfectly around the waist & is really light, even when full of liquid, you wouldn't notice your wearing it. Make sure you get the right size for your waist & keep it tight, that way you get absolutely no bounce. I use mine for running, & im pounding pretty rough terrain at times. I just hope the clip doesn't snap, as it did with a couple of the other reviewers! Nice product, really pleased with it.
