Just completed our Coast to Coast walk using this book between 5th to 18th July 2009. Overall this is an excellent book, but I would make a few observations which would make it much better; i) make it smaller so it fit's into side pocket of hiking shorts/trousers, ii) take out all the flora and fauna info as this is unnecessary ie. stick to the hike - there are better books than this if you want to read about the natural history along the trail, iii) make complicated changes in direction and distances to and from better - a few hikers, us included, went wrong a few times due to unclear instructions (distance and time to changes in direction are so easy and invaluable). Overall - recommended, and smaller/easier to use the rivals we saw some other hikers using.

Good value guide
This is an outstandingly good value and very useful guide. The most helpful features we found were:
1. Notes on the maps to reassure navigational decisions.
2. Town/village plans showing locations of b and bs, shops, pubs, etc. Enormously useful at the end of a (possibly wet and tiring) day's walking.
3. Honest opinions based on walker feedback re where to stay and eat.
It's an excellent companion to OS mapping to guide walkers along the trail.

Wainwrights Coast to Coast Guide
An excellent Guide which gives an insight into the way Wainwright tackled his walks as well as very accurate and factual information. Well worth the money!
