I used these on a 100Km charity trek in the Arabian Desert, I can honestly say that they stood up to the job impeccably over all surfaces including sand, rocks of varying sizes and even on quite technical scrambles up mountains. As they are made with Goretex XCR my feet were kept cool in temperatures of around 25 to 30 degrees C on a full 8 hour walk. The only very slight moan that I would have is that the standard insoles aren't great although they do seem to offer a bit more support than some competitors so I would term them as best of a bad bunch. I would recommend changing the insoles if you plan to do a great deal of walking, that is if you can find some that you find comfortable.
