Above Average But Not The Best!3
This book is a helpful reference to assess the description in stories, but you'll need some other books to know the step-wise process in a clearer manner. Still highly recommended as a reference guide.

Word Painting - a Guide to Writing more Descriptively by Rebecca McClanahan5
I love this book. It has had the same effect that starting to paint did 14 years ago. I found then that I was observing and looking at things more closely, with a fresh perspective, appreciating many more of the visual qualities all around me. "Word Painting" very cleverly achieves the same, but for all our five senses, not just the visual, but in the mind. It has captured my imagination, and I know will become very "well-thumbed!"
