This fire station has everything you'll need to save the day, from a central station with control and alarm rooms, to two garages with working doors, to a team of brave firefighters and a pair of realistic firefighting vehicles. Hot In The City
Perhaps playing second fiddle to the superior Police Station, this is never the less a good set (and a cheaper option!). As with all modern Lego sets, the set is modular with a section being assembled at a time before finally being clipped together. This means construction is fairly swift (it took me about 45 minutes, taking in being distracted by the TV!). The station itself is fast to assemble, as there quite a lot of specialised pieces. Normally, I find this a bit of a disappointment, but it actually makes the overall appearance a lot cleaner. There's some great details as well. Two computers, a telephone, coffee machine (my favourite!) and vehicle cleaning point with tap! There's two garages with those marvellous sliding doors and some plants to brighten the place up. Needless to say, most of the play value is derived from the two vehicles. Whilst not quite as detailed as the other fire engines available, they are perfectly functional. The fire cheifs car is perhaps a little chunky, but there's boot space containing breathing apparatus and clips for the radio and axe. The cherry picker fire engine is good too. It has a good range of motion and extension. The hydraulic style mechanisms making it a smoother process than on older models. There's also storage for a fire extinguisher, hose and axe. There are four mini-figures included, each with their own ifdentifying characteristics - specs, facial hair and chiselled good looks (!). If there is one flaw, its that the fire engine tends to catch on the sliding doors of its garage, which is a bit of a pain. Overall, a good, fun set with a decent amount of features and functionality.
Peace at last!
I bought this toy for my godchild who is 6. He has spent hours playing with it since he got it at Xmas. Needed his dad's help though which pleased his mum. She really enjoyed the peace and quiet whilst they were building it. Would highly recommend.
hours of fun
8 year old son had great fun building this and now plays for hours - uses it like a girl would use a doll's house.
