Product Description

This work is the culmination of more than 20 years' study and observation from one of the world's leading natural history photographers. Standing 10 feet tall on its hind legs, reaching more than 700kg and renowned for its singular ferociousness, the Polar Bear reigns in the North. It survives on the starkly beautiful arctic tundra, and with its tapered profile, tufted ears, snowy white coat, and coal-black eyes and nose, the Polar Bear is arrestingly photogenic. World-renowned nature photographer Norbert Rosing takes us through the year of the polar bear showing us that the animal is not only a fierce predator, but also a loving parent and a natural jester. His engaging photogaphs and informative text invite us into a world that few ever see and which is increasingly under threat. 'Through summer and sunsets, spring and snow, Rosing shows us a glimpse of this beautiful harsh world and the magnificent animals that inhabit it.' Daily Express 'Stunning images by a world class photographer The key selling point - "the most beautiful and comprehensive book on the market" - would seem to be a just claim.' Publishing News 'This is not only a superb portrait of one of the world's most fascinating animals, but also testament to [Norbert Rosing's] abilities as a photographer.' BBC Wildlife

Customer Reviews

Absolutely beautiful!5
This is a wonderful exploration of polar bears in the wild. The photography is stunning on every page and there are little descriptions of what the bears were doing at the time and how they got the shots. It's mostly stunning photography but there are also interesting introductions to each chapter. It's a large book, split into 4 sections, one for each season. Other animals are breifly mentioned with a few photographs. If you are interested in polar bears then I really highly recommend this book, it's so stunning. Truly beautiful.

Photography at it's Best5
This book is simply superb. Each picture is a joy to behold, as Norbert Rosing manages to really capture the life of the polar bear. This is a unique collection, with many unseen photographs, that maps a year in the life of this great animal. It is a high quality production with stunning photography and an informative commentary of events.
